Ayla Brown, Scott Brown’s daughter, no doubt is beaming with pride for her father, as the Massachusetts senator is in a very close race for the U.S. Senate seat against Martha Coakley in today’s Special Election.

She could sing for sure, but her stiff, serious stage manner, and the perception  that she was a spoiled kid with a silver spoon in her mouth did her in.Ayla was shut out of the Top 12 during the last week of the semi-finals when Melissa McGhee came out of nowhere to take a spot in the Top 12.

She was born on July 28, 1988 (so her age is 21) in Wrentham, Massachusetts.These days, Ayla plays basketball on scholarship for Boston College, has released two albums of music, and sings at various functions around town here in Boston.

Even if the next American Idol isn't the one you vote for this season, feel comforted that one star has already emerged and has been overwhelmingly embraced by America.  General Larry Platt's Pants on the Ground words have become stuck in so many people's heads, that it's rare you don't hear someone mumbling, humming or singing the tune out loud.  Once you see the Pants on the ground video a few times, you'll understand.

The 63-year-old civil rights veteran performed his original hit at an audition for the show's ninth season, winning over judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi — and earning a nervous endorsement from incurable skeptic Simon Cowell.

IF you watch the YouTube video, you will see that the performance made all of the judges laugh. It was definitely a welcomed break from the other contestants that seem to take everything very seriously.

During a radio interview, Platt explained that he came up with the song while down near a City hall street area, when he noticed a lot of individuals in the area with sagging pants.

This cultural trend often associated with hip hop gave Platt the idea to come up with his own unique tune which warns people to "get your pants off the ground" because they "looking like a fool" when they walking or talking with their pants on the ground.

Jeremy Abbott came to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships wanting a spot on the Vancouver Olympic team more than a second straight national title.

He  turned what was expected to be a close competition into a rout, winning his second straight national men's figure skating title with a tour de force in today's free skate at the U.S. Championships in Spokane, Wash.

Jeremy Abbott clinched received a score of 175.81 in the free skate, which, combined with his 87.85 from the short program, gave him a total of 263.66 over reigning world champion Evan Lysacek.

Lysacek, whose performance was described as "labored" by his coach, Frank Carroll, and third finisher Johnny Weir probably will earn the three men's spots on the U.S. Olympic team. That decision was to be announced today.

Lady Ga Ga has cancelled her latest, Purdue concert tonight.

The Purdue University show has been rescheduled for 7:20 p.m. on January 26 at Elliott Hall of Music. All those with tickets for Thursday's show can still use them for January 26.

R&B singer Jason DeRulo, who sings the No. 1 hit "Whatcha Say," will still perform first, followed by New York City rockers Semi Precious Weapons before headliner Gaga struts onto the stage.

The reason given for Lady Gaga’s cancellation was “sudden illness” as reported by Purdue Convocations director Todd Wetzel earlier in the evening, when he addressed a restless crowd of eager concert attendees.

Memphis garage rocker Jay Reatard, who broke out last year thanks to Watch Me Fall, has died at the age of 29, Reatard’s label Matador Records confirmed.

In a statement posted at goner-records.com, the label said: “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night. We will pass along information about funeral arrangements when they are made public.”

According to Memphis' Commercial Appeal, Reatard -- whose real name was Jay Lindsey -- was found dead in his home in the city's Midtown neighborhood at 3:30AM on Wednesday. Memphis police spokesperson Jennifer Robinson said that an investigation is ongoing.

Reatard's 2006 album “Blood Visions,” from In the Red Records, garnered widespread critical acclaim and cult adulation, which led to his being signed to big-league indie Matador Records. His debut full-length for the label, “Watch Me Fall,” was released in late 2009.

Mark McGwire has FINALLY admitted to using steroids.

After long denying that he ever used steroids or performance enhancing drugs, he has now come clean about his steroid use.

McGwire says in a statement sent to The Associated Press on Monday that he used steroids on and off for nearly a decade and he apologizes for his actions.

He says: "I wish I had never touched steroids. It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era.''

Over a decade ago, Mark McGwire hit 70 home runs in a single season, setting a record for the times.

And now that he wants back into baseball he comes cowering back, finally admitting what he so steadfastly denied for years. And we should just forgive him?

Turns out "Friday Night Lights" star Minka Kelly really prefers baseball ... or at least baseball players.

Derek Jeter and actress Minka Kelly will be getting married on November 5th at the Oheka Castle on Long Island, according to a report from the New York Post.

The Post confirmed the date by spotting a curious entry in the official calendar at the reception palace Oheka Castle in Huntington, LI, for the first Friday in November that read simply "JETER wedding."

When the reporter pryed further, the manager tried to laugh it off, saying if it was the real Derek Jeter Oheka would have put it down under a different name.
