The Los Angeles Clippers is a team that needed a change and surprisingly got one when Coach Mike Dunleavy stepped down as the head coach. Both parties said that the decision was mutual and Dunleavy was the one who recommended the decision.

With one year left on his contract at $5.4 million, Dunleavy will remain as general manager, the other half of the title he has formally held for two seasons.

Assistant coach Kim Hughes will take over the head coaching duties for the rest of the season.

Dunleavy said in a statement, “I’ve had several conversations with our owner concerning what we think is best for the team overall. We have discussed the possibility of my concentrating only on basketball operations. I've come to the conclusion that this is the ideal time for me to direct my efforts toward the many personnel opportunities that lie before us as the trade market, the draft and the free agent process."

In a major upset, Dunleavy wasn't fired. Instead, he accepted the inevitable and resigned gracefully.

Ben Maisani, a gaybar founder

Bar owner Benjamin Maisani is being called Anderson Cooper’s ‘boyfriend.’ The two are in the news this week after rumors that they may adopt a child.

Even though he hasn’t officially come out, reports state that he and a special guy friend are considering becoming the adoptive parents of a Haitian orphan. To me that seems the perfect way to put a shiny ribbon on top of his experience in the country, which was no doubt life-changing.

So who is this ‘friend’ of his? It’s difficult to find actual biographical information about him, but here are some.

He is also an influential business partner in the inexhaustible gay bar founding in the East Village environs known as the Eastern Bloc.

An avid workout and exercise lover, Ben Maisani is considered to be an individual with a pleasant and comforting presence to be around. Following his graduation from Hunter College, Ben Maisani started his first employment opportunity at a museum. His course of studies led him to earn a degree in Art History in the year 2000. The charming smiled.

justin mentell dead

Actor Justin Mentell, perhaps best known for his starring role on Boston Legal, died in a car accident in rural Waukegan, Illinois yesterday morning.

He was just 27 years old.


An eyewitness tells the website that Justin’s jeep swerved off the road, went down an embankment and hit two trees.

The actor, who was alone and not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene around 8:30 a.m. after a call came in. The accident is believed to have occurred around 3 a.m., Chief Deputy Jon Pepper told the Wisconsin State Journal.

"The family and friends of Justin Mentell thank you for visiting his site," read a statement on his website. "Memorial services are being planned."

Justin Mentell portrayed lawyer Garrett Wells on Boston Legal from 2005-2006; more recently, he appeared as Terrell in the 2009 film G-Force.

Born in Austin, Tex., Mentell was also an accomplished athlete who was a former member of the U.S. Junior National Speedskating team.

Gen. Larry Platt just took in-flight entertainment to the next level.

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards 2010″Pants on the Ground” made it to the Grammys when 62-year-old American Idol contestant General Larry Platt performed.

Platt's manager tells TMZ Platt busted out an impromptu performance of "Pants on the Ground" during a flight from L.A. to Atlanta this AM -- after passengers recognized him and then begged him to do it.

Platt was the last person to get off the plane -- because the pilots and flight attendants wanted to meet him.

Jay Novacek's Wife LeAnne Novacek Dead

The wife of former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jay Novacek has died, a spokesperson with the Tarrant County medical examiner's office said on Monday afternoon.

Dallas-Fort Worth's' WFAA cites a self-inflicted gunshot as the cause of death. The 45-year-old LeAnne was discovered dead at 9:05 a.m. this morning.

At 8:37 a.m., Burleson police and fire departments responded to "a report of a medical emergency, possible suicide" at a residence in Burleson, according to Burleson police department spokesperson Sally Ellertson. The body was found in the bedroom of the residence, according to the police report.

Ellertson said police on the scene called the Tarrant County coroner's office, detectives and a victim's assistance coordinator.

Officials say that Jay Novacek was not at the residence when police arrived. No suicide note was found, but more information may be revealed shortly.

Jay Novacek, 47, played six seasons for the Cowboys from 1990 to 1996.  He retired in 1997. He and LeAnne Novacek continued to live in the area after his retirement, and Jay remained closely involved with his former team.

Tasha Layton American Idol Audition

We've got our second pastor of the day: Tasha Layton, who's a personal assistant by day and a minister at night. Her audition  has Kara nodding her head. The judges are generally impressed.

This was Tasha’s first audition for the American Idol talent hunting reality show but she aced it beautifully when she soulfully sang “Baby, Baby, Bay” by Josh Stone and “The Scientist” by Coldplay.

"I think people may like you," Simon says.

After all, Tasha Layton has made it through the preliminary audition and there is no reason that we can see that would prevent her from going through to the finals and to ultimately win the American Idol 2010 award.

Tasha Layton is an attractive 26 year old girl from South Carolina.
