adam lambert ama performance video

Adam Lambert wrapped up the 2009 American Music Awards with a racy rendition of his new single, the title track from For Your Entertainment. His steamy choreography, heavily laced with sexual overtones, will likely be the hottest topic of the day.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck had laid into openly gay rocker Adam Lambert for his racy performance at the American Music Awards during Monday morning's "Hot Topics" discussion on The View. Elisabeth Hasselbeck stated that she found Adam Lambert's highly sexualized

Lambert said, “It’s a shame because I think that there’s a double standard going on in the entertainment community right now. Female performers have been doing this for years — pushing the envelope about sexuality — and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out. It’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them.”

According to Lambert, there were several unscripted and spontaneous moments during the performance, including a misstep that caused him to fall to the floor.

Nikki McKibbin at American Idol Finale

Oh no what happened to former American Idol contestant Nikki McKibbin?

The once tiny singer showed up to the AI season finale Wednesday night with a couple extra pounds packed on.
That's an old picture of former "American Idol" contender Nikki McKibbin, but TMZ caught up with her at last night's "Idol" finale.

Nikki McKibbin is a singer and songwriter who made her debut on the national stage on the reality television series American Idol during the first season, taking third place behind Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson. She has lived a rough and rocky road since then, struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction issues.

McKibbin was on hand last night at the Nokia Theater for the season eight American Idol finale. The 30 year old Texan initially signed on with 19 Management and RCA Records. They urged her to release a country album but she felt that she was rooted in rock and headed down that path.
Nikki may popular for her appearances on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" and "Sober House."

She also appeared on "Fear Factor," "Battle of the Network Reality Stars," and "Kill Reality".

I didn't watch the first season of "Idol", but I did get to know Nikki while I was hooked on "Celebrity Rehab" and "Sober House." I'm glad to see she cleaned up her act!

Her latest singles are Here to There and Inconsolable.

Kris Allen Wins American Idol!

It’s the American Idol 8 season finale… but who won American Idol??

The total underdog, dark horse winner… Kris Allen wins the American Idol 2009 finale!!!!

We get an intro of the judges, with clips of Randy Jackson’s “for me… for you…” line; clips of Kara sweetening bad news; clips of Paula’s vocabulary; clips of Simon Cowell hard of hearing.

Kris Allen has made one of the biggest comebacks in television history! After 620 million votes, 19 weeks, 100,000 auditions, an extra judge and a bikini girl, Kris Allen is your new American Idol.

Although Adam was an early favorite with his huge vocals and in-your-face style and confidence, Kris Allen never gave up and came from obscurity in the early rounds to win it all.

Before the results were given,Ryan Seacrest tells us it’s the hottest ticket in town… then talks about how just under 100 million votes came in.

Adam and Kris highlighted their polar opposite styling in perfect fashion. Kris paired up with Keith Urban and gave us a radio-worthy version of “Kiss A Girl.” Even with Keith Urban on the stage with him, the song sounded like it should be on his album.

Adam gave us a bigger-than-life collaboration with Kiss, platform boots , space-shoulder pads and all. It was everything you want from Adam.

As one last gift to the Idol fans both guys joined together for what we have been waiting for all season … Adam singing with Queen, “We Are the Champions.” And surprisingly, Kris holding his own!

Highlights included Kara DioGuardi showing up Bikini Girl in a vocal duel and then adding salt to the wounds by stripping down to a bikini as an inside joke/charity bet among the judges and Ryan. The Top 13 had lots of face time with each Idol getting at least one feature spot – something my season did not get, oh well.

David Cook sings “Permanent” as a tribute to his brother who passed away. After the show, the performance will go on iTunes, with proceeds going to an organization that’s trying to find a cure for cancer.

Lame of all lameness - “Golden Idol Awards” to honor all the crappy singers in the competition. Nick Mitchell (”Norman Gentle”) wins male performance and performs.

Queen Latifah and Lil Rounds sing “Cue the Rain.”

Jason Mraz sings “I’m Yours” with the finalists.

A look back at Kris Allen’s American Idol journey.

Kris Allen sings “Kiss a Girl” with Keith Urban.

The finalist girls sing “Glamorous” and then Fergie takes the stage and sings “Big Girls Don’t Cry”… then Black Eyed Peas perform.

More Golden Idols for “Best Attitude” - bikini girl, natch. She sings “Vision of Love” with Kara. And then Kara does a quick bikini flash of her own for charity.

Allison Iraheta and Cyndi Lauper sing “Time After Time.”

A chat with Kris and Adam’s parents.

Danny Gokey sings “Hello,” then sings with Lionel Richie.

Ryan Seacrest talks about the American Idol tour and album.

Next a look at Adam Lambert’s journey. Then he sings “Beth” then sings “Detroit Rock City”/”Rock & Roll All Night” with KISS.

Carlos Santana plays and the Idol finalists sing a Santana medley.

Final Ford commercial… and then, surprise from David Cook! Kris and Adam get a Ford Fusion!!

Michael Sarver and Megan Joy sing with Steve Martin.

The boys sing “If You Want My Body” then sing with Rod Stewart.

More Golden Crap awards for outstanding female. Tatiana wins and is annoying, as per usual.

Final performance, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen duet - “We Are the Champions” with Queen and the rest of the Idols.

And… finally… the nationwide vote of nearly 100 million votes… the winner of American Idol 2009 is Kris Allen.

adam lambert born to be wild

Internet "diva" and early fan favorite Adam Lambert sang Born to Be Wild inspired from Easy Rider.Adam was wearing a very nice rugged rocker outfit, and turned the song very -"wild" after Adam headbanged in some parts of his performance. His raw voice just tears into the song, it's high-energy and fun from the get-go. Man, what a showman; never heard this song done in this way.

He turns the chorus into some head-banging thing, and his voice is just climbing the ladder. It's not as easy on the ears and melodically pleasant as past weeks, but man does he have the crowd going crazy. Not my favorite performance by Adam, but the crowd sure loves it.

Paula says "you dare to dance in the path of greatness," calls him one fo the bravest contestants ever. She's sure got that right.

Simon says Adam's performance a while ago was "incredible" vocally, but "Rocky Horror Picture Show" in some parts. Simon added that people will either hate it or love it. Paula gives Adam a good mark after saying "you dare to dance in the path of greatness," The dancer-judge even calls him one of the bravest contestants ever.

adam lambert tears for fears

Adam Lambert delivered a rendition of Tears for Fears' "Mad World" that was phenomenal. I was particularly impressed, as this is one of my favorite songs. Adam's version was reminiscent of the Gary Jules arrangement, rather than the original Tears for Fears.

However, where Gary Jules delivered a more monotone sing song vocal, Adam's version was filled with varying degrees of light and shade. I have been hesitant in my admiration of Adam because of his penchant for the dramatic. Tonight he dispensed with the antics and displayed a softness and vulnerability I have not seen from him before.

With the stage bathed in blue light, Adam struck just the right melancholy tone. Adam's voice soared with angelic purity and at other times it's simplicity was breathtaking. .He was pitch perfect. Earning a standing ovation from Simon is nothing short of a miracle, but Adam managed it. . He really is in a class by himself. The performance was restrained and pared down with a nod to the melody and the definite artistry of a consummate performer.

The 27-year-old actor from Los Angeles received a standing ovation from none other than Cowell following his rendition of "Mad World" by Tears for Fears.

Meanwhile,Lil Rounds continued her streak of disappointment on "American Idol."

The 24-year-old Memphis mom's eyes welled with tears as judge Simon Cowell derided her performance of "What's Love Got To Do With It" Tuesday night as a "second- or third-rate version of Tina Turner."

"I have no idea who you are," Cowell told Rounds. "You're not making the impact you should be making on the show. ... You've got to start becoming more original."

Cowell and his fellow judges loved Matt Giraud's slick take on the Stevie Wonder hit "Part-Time Lover." Giraud is a piano player from Kalamazoo, Mich.

Kris Allen generally gets good reviews, but the judges' panel mostly soured to the heartthrob's cover of "All She Wants To Do Is Dance." Cowell used some of his favorite words -- "indulgent, boring, forgettable" -- to describe it, causing audience members to shout their support of Allen: "You're hot!!!"

Responded Cowell: "So am I, but it's not about that."

One of the eight remaining finalists will get the boot on Wednesday night's results show. In a new rule this season, judges can save a contestant they feel has been wrongly eliminated by voting viewers.

adam lambert mad world

Adam Lambert closes down American Idol, born in 1982; says he loved playing dress-up, being a performer, gettting attention.

Lambert was born in 1982, the year of “E.T.” and “Gandhi,” when the average annual income was $21,000 and the average cost of a new house was $82,000. It was also the year of “Mad World” and Adam’s haunting, stripped-down version is destined to be a goth anthem for the Millennials.

Either way, it literally ends with Adam Lambert. He closed out Tuesday’s “songs from the year they were born” show with "Mad World."

I love this song (yeah, mostly from the Gears of War commercial). Adam's singing it pitch-perfect; sitting on a box, lights down, stripped down and just pouring out the lyrics. He's making this a tender, vulnerable song; this is going to stick in everyone's mind.

Then he just nails the chorus; wow. Audience is just screaming throughout. Mad vocal skills, yo.

Give him credit, he knows his audience. Even without the spiky hair and makeup, he’s still Mr. Emo, singing straight to his fans. I love this look. I’m consistently more interested in the scaled-back Adam. For me, this performance ranks with “Tracks of My Tears.” Still not so into the screamy meamy stuff like “Ring of Fire” and “Play That Funky Music.”

Simon says "words are unnecessary, but I want to give you a standing ovation."

Wow. They're out of time so Simon's the only one who says anything; and that says it all.

adam lambert kissing

This is totally distracting. It seemed like yesterday when Adam Lambert got this much praise on American Idol, with his performance of that Rolling Stones track compelling Randy Jackson to compare him to Twilight's Robert Pattinson. And, as he found himself a spot on the Top 12, people online started wondering whether he could be the “next Edward Cullen,” probably because of his looks, and probably because of his singing, although his voice is obviously much screechier than Robert's.

And then, boom—photos of him kissing other guys come out. I'm sorry, but I think those people have lost themselves future vampire material.

The blogosphere has been buzzing over photos of the theater queen—I mean veteran—macking with another dude. The photos surfaced on internet and several outlets have picked up the story, breathlessly wondering if Lambert is gay. Well, he did choose Cher’s “Believe” as one of the first songs to sing. I’m just saying.

Anyway, in several photos Lambert’s dressed very much like David Bowie circa his Ziggy Stardust days. Another shows him in drag. Other photos show him glamming it up at the annual Burning Man event in the California desert. The guy he’s with has been identified only as Brad, and the couple already are being called “Bradam.”

This definitely doesn't qualify as an “Idol” scandal, no matter how much some sites, like one that calls the photos “depravity,” might claim it does. Seriously, who hasn't dressed in drag or kissed a boy? I say go for it. Hopefully Lambert will let it all hang out in his performances as well. I just hope voters don't get their shorts in a twist over this. The competition's about singing, not mingling.

Another Lambert rumor is more troubling, though. Celeb news site GossipSauce claims Lambert and judge Randy Jackson were spotted having dinner at Hollywood eatery Katsuya last Tuesday, the night before Lambert sang for his Top 12 spot. Jackson’s publicist shot down the report as “absolutely untrue.”

“Randy did not have dinner with Adam Lambert,” the publicist told Entertainment Weekly. “He ran into him as he was leaving the restaurant.”

I'll keep my eye open for updates on this news, but it seems to have been put to bed already.
