Apparently This "Rockabilly" Musician In Austin Liked To Party Fucking Hard
From The Austin Statesman:
Rockabilly musician Charles "Chadd" Thomas II was involved in three separate, unrelated altercations between Sunday evening and early Monday morning before his body was found on South Congress Avenue, police said.
Thomas' death was ruled a homicide earlier this week. On Thursday, police released more details about his demise and asked any witnesses to the events leading up to his death to come forward.
Detective Chris Smyth said investigators think Thomas, 38, was injured in three incidents that took place between 5 p.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday.
The first was a "disturbance involving a car" at either the 3600 block or 3000 block of South Lamar Boulevard in which he was hurt. Smyth said Thomas might have been struck by a car.
A short time later, Thomas attended a party in the 200 block of East Alpine Road, off South Congress Avenue, Smyth said. Detectives believe Thomas was involved in an altercation at that party and was assaulted there, Smyth said.
Thomas was then driven to the 2600 block of South Congress Avenue, where he was possibly assaulted again, Smyth said. His body was found there at 7:45 a.m. Monday.
"What we're specifically needing on this is any witnesses to these events that occurred," Smyth said. "We have talked to some of the people involved, but we need help in identifying the remainder of the people, specifically who was involved in the fight at the party."
The 38-year-old lead singer and guitarist of the rockabilly band Chadd Thomas and the Crazy Kings was described by friends and family as a passionate musician and dedicated father to his 6-year-old daughter.
Police do not think the same people were involved in all three incidents, Smyth said. He added that investigators do not know why Thomas was involved in so many altercations or whether Thomas knew his attackers.
Smyth said Thomas' body was not easily visible from the street in the dark early Monday and was discovered after the sun rose.
In addition to the homicide investigation, detectives said they have had to contend with rumors spreading on Facebook and other social media outlets that have turned out to be false. Detective Anthony Nelson said investigators have come across reports from friends, family and fans of Thomas that have actually impeded the investigation.
"We have to clarify these rumors before we continue the investigation," Nelson said.
I'm pretty sure if I was the sheriff investigating this case I'd look at the evidence and conclude this was justifiable homicide. If you are wondering around town getting your ass kicked to literally death by three different unrelated parties, I'm pretty sure you deserved it. Oh and save me the part about how he was a passionate man who loved his 6 year old daughter. Why do news articles always have to throw in a positive about a dead guy. I'm pretty sure this guy was a fucking drunk "rockabilly" who everyone wanted to beat to death... Well maybe except for his 6 year old daughter
P.S. 90% of why I posted this article is because the guy died literally a block away from my apartment in Austin. I realize this is only fascinating to me. Deal with it.
