wannabes

its kinda funny to think back to the 90s and really think about just how funny some of the fashions were. scrunchies? butterfly clips? and the sparkles? ohhh, the sparkles. most of us were victims of these atrocious fashion faux pas, but it wasn't our fault. the girl bands we so strongly worshiped were the inspiration behind over half of these trends.

seriously.. who didn't worship the spice girls? from the dolls to the lollipops and the movie ohhh god the movie. i was all about it. even the backup man dancers with assless chaps. i'm not even afraid to admit that i was sporty spice on halloween once. feel free to judge me? although.. its much more obvious now that i resemble scary spice waaaaay more. these 5 ladies were every girls idol and the song 'wannabe' still gets stuck in my head every now & then. my life was spiced up, that's for damn sure. they were so over the top in everything they did-and that's what made them so freakin' fabulous. the platform shoes, chunky high-lights (which, was a trend i followed religiously up until my freshmen year of high school, god help me....), babydoll dresses, bare midriffs, hair knots, vinyl pants, ohhh my... i just realized I WAS SCARY SPICY on another halloween and i rocked snakeskin pants, boots, and a killer black feather bowa. thanks, spice girls.
dude tlc was fuggin' DOPE. seriously i can't really hate on their outfits other than the fact that they dressed like your average black DUDE. i'm also pretty sure left eye sported a condom on her LEFT-EYE on one of the covers of their albums? whatevs these ladies were crazy, sexy & cool. rip left eye<3

ahhh the very beginning of the legendary BEYONCE! ohh yeah there WERE other broads in the band too? sorry ladies, no one noticed. it's kinda funny to look at her now always one of the best-dressed on red carpets & she even has her own successful fashion line when back in the 90s her and her destiny ladies always looked like they were part of a NASA special edition project. it's okay.. they survived the 90s and made it out okay.

wild orchid. ummm i guess they were a "popular" 90s chick band. too bad i never heard of them other than when they appeared on 90210. idk who is actually to be blamed for the overly leather-clad girls band fashion no no's was it all the meth fergie was taking or whaaat? who would've ever thought that she too would be allowed to design clothes and be married to one of hollywood's sexiest men. was this before or after she peed her pants on stage? :x sorry fergie ferg i had to.. too much vinyl. too much midriff. end of story.

ohhh eden's crush! i totally forgot about them and DID NOT KNOW that nicole scherzinger was a part of this band. eden's crush was formed on one of the very first reality shows! i must admit, i was definitely a follower... until the new millennium emerged and they... disappeared? tear. look at homegirl rockin' them hair knots. its alright sister, we alllll did it. and again with the vinyl pants. i mean how did anyone ever think that was OKAY?

i miss the 90s.
everything was so tacky,
sparkly, glittery, blah gross.
